Amy Marcy Cheney Beach (1867-1944) was an acclaimed concert pianist
whose career included numerous performances with the Boston Symphony
Orchestra as well concerto appearances with major orchestras throughout
the United States and Europe. She was also a composer of substantive
works of high quality.
Composer, music director, and educator, Mabel Wheeler Daniels (1878-1971)
enjoyed an enduring conducting career at both Radcliffe and Simmons
Colleges. Her work has been performed and recorded by venerable ensembles
including the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
The Mothers of Invention program features the work of these and other
musical craftswomen.
