"Thank you so much for a wonderful concert Friday evening.
Olmsted Ensemble presented our audience with a virtuosic display that had many people approaching me Sunday morning with accolades…glorious music!"
~ Patricia Griffin, St Andrew's Performing Arts Series

The Olmsted Ensemble (Peter H. Bloom, flute; Brian Clague, violin; Jennifer Shallenberger, viola; Timothy Roberts, cello) performs European and American chamber music from the 18th to the 21st centuries, with wide-ranging repertoire from beloved masterworks to rarely-heard gems. The group takes its inspiration from Frederick Law Olmsted, the great landscape architect (creator of Boston's Emerald Necklace and New York's Central Park), whose work was visionary and forward-looking while also honoring and extending traditions of the past.

The Olmsted Ensemble concertizes widely, appearing at venues such as Boston's Museum of Fine Arts, Tufts University, Longfellow National Historic Site, the Islesboro Maine Summer Concert Series, King's Chapel-Boston, One Longfellow Square (Portland, ME),and Elmira College, New York. Members of the ensemble tour with orchestras and chamber groups across North America, Europe, and the Far East.

Flutist Peter H. Bloom tours nationally with noted chamber music and jazz ensembles; appears on 30 CDs (Dorian, SONY Classical, Newport Classic, Leo, other labels); and can be heard on the award-winning DVD collection Treasures from the American Film Archives. Brian Clague, violin, has toured throughout the U.S., Europe and Japan, appearing in solo recitals and serving as concertmaster for numerous orchestras. He is a recording artist for national PBS productions and for film, major record labels, and commercial projects. Jennifer Shallenberger, viola, has performed with chamber ensembles and orchestras in the U.S., Canada Japan, Taiwan, and Korea. Cellist Timothy Roberts has performed nationally and internationally with acclaimed ensembles including the Smithsonian Chamber Players, Alea III, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Carmel Bach Festival, the Boston Pops, and the Vienna Choir Boys as a member of the Brandenburg Ensemble
