.

Soulful, virtuosic, and joyful to listen to, Shirim is the ultimate klezmer concert experience. With a top-selling crossover klezmer/classical recording, Klezmer Nutcracker, Shirim has performed internationally, captivating a diverse audience with its rocking renditions of classic klezmer music and ingenious arrangements of klezmerized Tchaikovsky, Brahms, and Enesco.

The band can be heard annually during the December holidays on National Public Radio special "The Golden Dreydl: A Klezmer Nutcracker;" a collaboration with writer/"Sound & Spirit" host Ellen Kushner. The band is featured on the sound track of Woody Allen's "Deconstructing Harry" and has four recordings out on Newport Classic and Northeastern Records. Fronted by the passionate playing of klezmer veterans Glenn Dickson, clarinet, and David Harris, trombone, the band evokes the seething fervor and ecstatic joy of the Jewish minstrels who kept people dancing, crying and laughing in the shtetls of Eastern Europe for hundreds of years.

Shirim displays humor, virtuosity and undeniable soul. Klezmer music knows no boundaries in the hands of this virtuosic and passionate ensemble that hasn't forgotten its sense of humor. It hasn't forgotten its audience either, and peppers its concerts with the colorful history of klezmer music and its most famous practitioners.
